- Sat, Sep 19, 7:30 PMSongs and Stories with Roger McGuinnJoin us for Songs and Stories with Roger McGuinn ; lead singer and one of the founding members of The Byrds! Known for their hit songs “Mr. Tambourine Man”, “Turn, Turn, Turn”, and “Eight Miles High”, Roger McGuinn was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1991 as a member of the band. As a solo artist, he has released 10 albums and collaborated with, among others, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, and Chris Hillman. The Rickenbacker 12-string guitar is his signature instrument, and McGuinn developed two innovative and very influential styles of electric guitar playing. The first was "jingle-jangle", ringing arpeggios based on banjo finger picking styles he learned while at the Old Town School of Folk Music, which was influential in the folk rock genre. The second style was a merging of saxophonist John Coltrane's free-jazz atonalities, which hinted at the droning of the sitar, a style of playing first heard on the Byrds' 1966 single "Eight Miles High" and influential in psychedelic rock. Join us for an unforgettable evening with the legendary Rock and Roll Hall of Fame musician, Roger McGuinn! Runtime: Two 45-minute sets w Encore
- Fri, Oct 2, 8:00 AMSJCT Fall Play: You Can't Take it With YouSJCT presents their 2026 Fall Play: You Can't Take it With You! Written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman Directed by Joy Van Camp Running: October 2nd - 18th, 2026 Grandpa Vanderhof and his wacky family, the Sycamores, have been happily living their zany lives in his house by Columbia University in New York for many years. This family (and their friends) are a madcap group of eccentrics, marching to the beat of their own drum, with pride and joy. Their hobbies include collecting snakes, building fireworks in the basement, writing a myriad of plays that never get published, and taking ballet lessons. Things like stress, jobs, and paying taxes to the government are for other people, not for them! But when practical young Alice Sycamore becomes engaged to her company’s Vice President Tony Kirby, the Vanderhof/Sycamore clan must straighten up to meet the new in-laws. Disaster ensues when the Kirbys arrive at the wrong time and, despite the best laid plans, see Alice’s family in all of its crazy glory. The evening ends with everyone in the house getting arrested, and Alice ending the engagement. It isn’t until Grandpa’s wise speech to Mr. Kirby about the importance of living life to the fullest that the two families find a way to accept each other, and love conquers all. You Can’t Take It With You is a madcap, idealistic comedy that reinforces the idea that you can only live life to the fullest by doing whatever makes you happy. Get your tickets now! Tickets: Adults $27, Students $15, Student Rush $5 (Thursdays are Pay-What-You-Can!)
