Do you want feedback from other artists on an art piece you're stuck on? Do you want to talk about art with other islanders? Join us! We meet every other Wednesday evening and share projects we are working on that we'd like feedback on, past pieces we'd like to build upon, or any other in-progress or completed work we'd like to share. You are also welcome to come just to check out work and talk with other artists! This is an informal supportive group of artists providing feedback for one another, discussing ideas, and hopefully laying the groundwork for creating new work and new collaborations. This is a drop-in group, you can attend as many as you'd like. We like folks to sign up ahead of time so we can best organize the space, but you may show up at the door as well. Suggested donation $15-$25. Artists Critique Group is held in the dome on the AAC campus. Registration: Please register early if you are able, as it helps us to assure that programs meet their minimums in order to run!

SJCT presents their 2026 Fall Play:  You Can't Take it With  You! Written by Moss Hart and George S. Kaufman Directed by Joy Van Camp Running: October 2nd - 18th, 2026 Grandpa Vanderhof and his wacky family, the Sycamores, have been happily living their zany lives in his house by Columbia University in New York for many years. This family (and their friends) are a madcap group of eccentrics, marching to the beat of their own drum, with pride and joy. Their hobbies include collecting snakes, building fireworks in the basement, writing a myriad of plays that never get published, and taking ballet lessons. Things like stress, jobs, and paying taxes to the government are for other people, not for them! But when practical young Alice Sycamore becomes engaged to her company’s Vice President Tony Kirby, the Vanderhof/Sycamore clan must straighten up to meet the new in-laws. Disaster ensues when the Kirbys arrive at the wrong time and, despite the best laid plans, see Alice’s family in all of its crazy glory. The evening ends with everyone in the house getting arrested, and Alice ending the engagement. It isn’t until Grandpa’s wise speech to Mr. Kirby about the importance of living life to the fullest that the two families find a way to accept each other, and love conquers all. You Can’t Take It With You  is a madcap, idealistic comedy that reinforces the idea that you can only live life to the fullest by doing whatever makes you happy. Get your tickets now! Her work, however, including her role in the creation of the Rosie the Riveter World War II Homefront National Historical Park in Richmond, California continues to inspire. Her unique perspective and experience of the World War Two shipyards, has been informative and enlightening to those who seek creative responses to the continuing struggles for racial and social equality. The film will share the evening with a musical presentation by Jaeger & Reid, a duo composed of Betty’s son, longtime musical activist, Bob Reid, and his partner, Judi Jaeger. Join the San Juan Islands Museum of Art for a free, hands-on Family Art Days class inspired by the Mayan tradition of worry dolls, or muñecas quitapenas. Led by local artist Amy Plant, children and their accompanying adult will learn the folktale origins of this tradition and create their own set of worry dolls using wire, colored yarn, and wool roving, exploring the connection between crafting, storytelling, and emotions. Each family will receive a cloth pouch to keep their dolls safe at home. This class is free and open to children ages 5 and up with a supervising adult; preregistration is encouraged as space is limited. Her first album Tibetan Prayer won the Australian Recording Industry Award for Best World Music Album. Yungchen was then signed to Peter Gabriel’s Real World Records label on which she released three more albums: Tibet Tibet, Coming Home, and Ama, which featured songs with Annie Lennox and Joy Askew. His exploratory vocal practice has taken him to stages across the globe—India, Hong Kong, Israel, Germany, Italy, France, Spain, Australia, Thailand, Mexico, and throughout the United States—including a performance at the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. He appeared on America’s Got Talent, which led to a touring collaboration with the Earth Harp Collective, the world’s largest stringed instrument. In Malaga, Spain, he performed accompanied by a full orchestra at MOSMA, the international festival of film composers, alongside Hollywood composer Tyler Bates.
